SSI Energy Strategy – Archive

Salt Spring Energy Strategy Objectives:

• Save Energy
• Reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions
• Reduce Air Pollution

Targets: over 20% reductions by 2012
(to keep our energy consumption and emissions at 2002 levels)

Global climate change and our individual contributions to Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are the cause of ever-increasing average global temperatures and associated severe weather events. It is up to each one of us to do what we can to reduce our use of fossil fuel – the source of most of our GHG emissions. Although our individual reductions are small, together we CAN make a difference! This site provides many ideas and resources of how you can make changes in your daily choices to reduce your GHG emissions.

The Salt Spring Energy Strategy is an island initiative coordinated by the Earth Festival Society, with the help of The Salt Spring Island Conservancy, Island Natural Growers and other island groups. Our sponsors include Environment Canada, VanCity Credit Union, the Islands Trust and the Capital Regional District.
