Activating a Climate Resilient Salt Spring

We are already experiencing a changing climate – intense heat, unusually severe storms, and year after year summer droughts. These changes are affecting our day-day lives, food prices, and the health of our communities and natural systems, making climate change one of the most challenging issues we face.
Although the Salt Spring Climate Action Plan is divided by ‘sector’ for ease of discovering actions, the vast majority of our actions are cross-sectoral, and we encourage you to explore and learn about how single choices can lead to a multitude of benefits.
It's all connected.

Goal & How We'll Get There

We need to reduce the flow of greenhouse gas emissions into our atmosphere, but we also need to adapt to the changes we are and will be experiencing as our weather systems become less predictable. The choices we make in where our food is grown, how we manage our forests, lakes, streams, and how we manage our growth and settlement patterns can increase or reduce our vulnerability to climate change.
