Celebrating 2,000+ Native Plants Planted!

🌿A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who joined us in the field for our spring and fall planting days this year – and to all who donated plants, offered support, or helped behind the scenes.

Together, we planted over 2,000 native plants! Your efforts are helping to restore ecosystem functioning (erosion control), reduce wildfire risk, and enhance native food webs, all while protecting Salt Spring’s drinking water, making a lasting difference for our island’s environment and community.

We’d like to thank the following people:

🌳 Volunteer Planters:

Azelia, Brenna, Candace, Charley, Fabiola, Ian, Jerry, Karlis, Laura, Leslie, Lindsay, Malcolm, Mia, Mitch, Moe, Murray, Nikki, Patricia, Tangachee, Urs, Jill, and the GISS Environmental Science Class.

🌸 Plant Donors:

Aerin, Moe, Murray, Alissa, Barbara, Diane, Jean, Juli, Jutta, and Kimberly.

🤝 Supporters:

Ongoing funding and support from the North Salt Spring Waterworks District (NSSWD) and Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC), with special thanks to the Water Preservation Society, Salt Spring Island Garden Club, and Nigel Kay (https://nigelkay.ca/) for their help and generous contributions.

And of course, deep appreciation to our TSS CARL staff and organizing team, Keegan Thomas, Ruth Waldick, and Jessica Debiasio, for leading this work in the field.

We can’t wait to share how these new plantings progress, and we look forward to organizing a field visit so you can see the impact of your efforts firsthand! 🌱

With gratitude,

The CARL Team
