E-Bike Charging Station at Ruckle Park

Fans of e-bikes now have a new place to charge up when visiting Salt Spring Island.

Islanders who brave the journey to the deep south from points north of Ganges can now be confident of having enough juice to complete their return home.

E-bikes also take a lot of work out of our hills, while speeding their ascent, an important safety benefit, impeding fewer drivers, hence lessening risky passing maneuvers. This is made possible by four newly installed 120-volt charging outlets and two attractive green bike racks courtesy of Island Pathways, Friends of Ruckle Park Heritage with support from the SSI Foundation Neighbourhood Small Grants, TSS EV Group, K2 Park Services, HillEater E-Bikes, Bearfoot Renewables and Motherwell Accents electrical contractors, Capital Regional District, Salt Spring Community Energy, Salt Spring Historical Society & Archives in collaboration with BC Parks.

Many thanks to the persistent efforts of Brenda Guiled and Jean Gelwicks who initiated this project and Ron Watts who helped navigate through the regulatory and funding obstacles to its final completion. An accompanying sign is in the works, telling some of Salt Spring’s cycling history back to 1887.

This adds to the growing list of e-bike charging stations available on Salt Spring Island including ;
