Clothing Swap Volunteers Wanted!

Our amazing Transition Salt Spring Clothing Swaps wouldn’t be possible without passionate and dedicated volunteers!
We are currently recruiting volunteers to assist with clothing donation intake and set up on Friday afternoon, October 24 and Free Shop Day Saturday, October 25th. If you can spare 2-4 hours for a great cause, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator, Andria Scanlan.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to do some early bird shopping!

Why It Matters

The fashion industry is responsible for 8-10% of global CO₂ emissions, and Canadians discard 500 million kilos of textiles annually. Swapping, reusing, and repairing clothes is a powerful way to cut waste and curb emissions.

Last year, over 550 community members came together at Transition Salt Spring’s Slow Down Salt Spring Clothing Swap, keeping more than 900 kilos of clothing out of the landfill!

Whether you’re clearing out that brown coat you never wear, those pants that never quite fit, or are just ready for something fresh, this is your chance to swap, don’t shop.

Let’s reduce waste, refresh our wardrobes, and support sustainable fashion together.

This event is made possible by Transition Salt Spring and the CRD.
