We don’t grieve what we don’t love. This gathering is an opportunity to come together in a safe group setting to express the pain and grief we carry in this time of climate emergency, as well as a space to bring forth the joy and gratitude we have for our beautiful planet. Speaking from our hearts and offering witness to others enables us to move through private pain into community in a way that strengthens our resolve and resilience.

This session will be mostly in a sharing circle, with some paired or small group conversations. The facilitator will offer a brief framing on grief and on its public expression.  Because of the ceremonial nature of this event, participants need to commit to attend the full two hours.

Maggie Ziegler is a longtime and skilled facilitator of the Work That Reconnects, group processes developed by Joanna Macy to move through our pain to a place of compassion and strength. She has participated in numerous trainings and retreats with Joanna over the years and is grateful for her mentoring. Maggie integrates these teachings with decades of experience as an individual and group therapist specializing in individual and collective trauma, and as a facilitator and educator in diverse settings.
